Sandeep and I first met in the 1st year of our college in the library, where we exchanged phone numbers. At that time, I had no idea that I would be getting married to this wonderful stranger after 12 years and 5 months. The best thing about the deepest relationships in your life is that you don’t ever get to know how you developed that unbreakable bond with that special person of yours. We became friends, good friends, and then best friends until we graduated from college. We had chemistry so good that we used to complete each other’s sentences. After the 1st year of our college, we shifted to different classes and got some new friends, but still, we hung out every day, celebrated birthdays together, and had so much fun together. I still remember how badly I cried at the time of our farewell.
We didn’t think of dating each other even after getting told by everyone around us to date saying we had such great chemistry and understanding, and we also looked good together, because of the only thought that nothing is worth ruining our friendship that is so pure and one in a million. I really think that all these manifestations, with God`s blessings, brought us together. P.S: We also had a pact in place that if we don’t get married till the age of 30, we will marry each other :P
My parents were finding matches for me and I used to crib about not getting any good matches and say things like, "Am I that bad or what?", and he always used to listen patiently. And then, one fine day, I was telling him about yet another match that my parents had found for me and how I didn`t like him, and suddenly Sandeep said, "Why are we not together? And, I was like, WHAT? That`s when our love story began. The thought of us marrying each other seemed right, and we thought of giving ourselves a chance by promising each other that our friendship isn`t that fragile and that it won`t break even if we don`t get together. The dating phase comprised the happiest moments of my life. Our love story is special because he compliments and completes me in every possible way. The best part is that I can totally be myself in front of him and he completely understands that. He is very shy and reserved with his feelings, but his actions are enough to express his love for me.
But of course, a love story is incomplete without any hurdles. We decided to get married, and he told his family about us. In India, inter-caste marriage is still taboo, so they disapproved of the marriage. After a lot of persuasion and perseverance, my would-be husband convinced his family to the marriage.
And, finally, we are getting married on 9th Dec"22 and our honeymoon is also going to be our first international trip together. We chose Vietnam for our honeymoon destination because we love nature and Vietnam is pure beauty. When we were going to book tickets for our honeymoon, we came across this contest, and we thought of entering it to try our luck once again. I hope we win this time too :)
