As an interior designer captivated by cultural depth, I was instantly drawn to Hanoi’s blend of French colonial facades, ancient pagodas, and buzzing street life. The Old Quarter, with its narrow, history-laden streets, seemed to freeze time, with each lane showcasing traditional houses with tiled roofs, wooden balconies, and delicate carvings—testaments to Vietnam’s enduring craftsmanship. The city’s spiritual side was equally compelling. At the Temple of Literature, honoring Confucius, I felt an almost meditative connection to wisdom from the past. Hoan Kiem Lake, alive each morning with locals practicing Tai Chi, captured Vietnam’s seamless balance between tradition and modernity. And the food—fragrant, rich, and brimming with flavor—told stories of heritage with every bite. For a birdwatcher who’s spotted over 500 species in India, Vietnam is a treasure trove. The diversity of its habitats offers endless possibilities, and I can’t wait to discover more. On my next visit, I’m eager to dive into the dynamic world around Ho Chi Minh City. The city’s energy is palpable, from the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica to the Saigon Central Post Office, historical gems that highlight a fascinating colonial past. In Ben Thanh Market, I’ll immerse myself in the flavors and craftsmanship of Vietnam. Beyond the city, the Mekong Delta beckons. Its rivers, floating markets, and lush landscapes are a dream for someone who thrives on culture and nature. And at the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve—the “Green Lung” of Ho Chi Minh City—I hope to spot wading birds, colorful kingfishers, and maybe even the rare Painted Stork. This journey promises an unforgettable blend of the city’s vibrant pulse and the quiet majesty of Vietnam’s landscapes, each piece amplifying my admiration for this beautiful country. Vietnam, once again, will be a new adventure every day, a perfect tapestry of culture, architecture, and nature.

The bustling streets, vibrant colors, and intoxicating aromas filled the air as I made my way through famous lantern boat ride. But little did I know, the true magic lay in the hidden gems waiting to be discovered off the beaten path. One morning, while sipping coffee at a local cafe I struck up a conversation with a friendly barista named sherin . She shared stories of her favorite spots, places that tourists easily overlook, I decided to follow her advice and ventured into the less-traveled areas of the city. My first stop was hoian market, a quaint little market bursting with artisanal goods and handmade crafts. The vendors greeted me with warm smiles and offered samples of delectable treats. I savored Lotus Tes and it tasted like a piece of heaven! I felt a sense of connection here, surrounded by locals who welcomed me like family. Next, I wandered to Ninh binh, a stunning viewpoint that overlooked the city. The sky painted hues of orange and pink during sunset, and I felt a profound sense of gratitude for the day’s experiences. In that moment, I realized that traveling isn’t just about visiting popular attractions; it’s about connecting with the soul of a place. In February 2023, I stepped foot in the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh for the first time. The air buzzed with the energy of its motorbikes, the smell of street food wafting through the alleys, and the smiles of locals that welcomed me to their bustling city. Little did I know, this journey would change my perspective on travel forever. My first stop was the iconic Ben Thanh Market, where I got lost in the sea of colors, sounds, and flavors. I couldn’t help but marvel at how this city balanced its history with the fast pace of modern life. From the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica to the War Remnants Museum, every corner told a story of resilience, growth, and transformation. I met fellow travelers, exchanged stories, and even learned a bit of Vietnamese — though my pronunciation left a lot to be desired! The evenings were magical. Walking along the Saigon River with its shimmering lights felt like stepping into a dream. One night, I found myself in a hidden rooftop café overlooking the skyline, and as I sipped on my iced coffee, I realized something — Ho Chi Minh wasn't just a city. It was an experience, one that stays with you long after you leave. Fast forward to March 2024. After falling in love with Vietnam during my first visit, I knew I had to explore more. This time, I found myself in the heart of Hanoi, the capital city. Hanoi was a world apart from Ho Chi Minh, slower yet deeply rooted in culture and tradition. The old quarter was a maze of narrow streets, ancient temples, and the aroma of freshly brewed egg coffee. March in Hanoi is the perfect time for a stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake, where locals practice tai chi at dawn and the cherry blossoms begin to bloom. I spent hours at the Temple of Literature, immersed in the serene beauty of Vietnam's ancient academic heritage. But the highlight of my trip was venturing out to Ha Long Bay. Cruising through its emerald waters, surrounded by towering limestone islands, I was once again reminded of the beauty and diversity Vietnam offers. Two journeys. Two cities. Both leaving indelible marks on my heart. As I look back on my travels through Vietnam, one thing is clear — Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi may be two different worlds, but they share a spirit of warmth, adventure, and charm that I can't wait to experience again.
